Pacing in Ultra-Distance Running

As part of our ongoing research in ultra-distance running, we are conducting a simple pacing project within the Coast to Kosciuszko event. The purpose of this project is to determine the pacing strategies used by runners, across a range of finishing times, using a Global Positioning System (GPS).

We are seeking individuals competing in the event, and participation involves completing a questionnaire (approximately 5 minutes) at any time prior to the event, and having a small (7 x 4.5 x 2 cm), light-weight (65 g), GPS unit with you for the duration of the event. You will not be required to do anything else for the project during the event.

When the results are analysed you will be given individual information on your pacing, and how this compares to the group of participants. This information could be of use to you in your training and racing.
Please note that participation is voluntary, and not linked to your participation in the event.

If you are interested in participating in this research, please contact the Principal Investigator, Dr. Colin Solomon, via E-mail at c.solomon@qut.edu.au or telephone at (07) 3138 1427.

Thank-you for your time in considering our research.
